2017 Nashville Solar Eclipse Photos
Every hotel was booked and every car was rented, as tourists from all over took over Nashville to see the "once in a lifetime" (isn't it happening again in 2024?) event. If you weren't able to get in the path of totality, or your view was blocked by a cloud, or a high rise, you really missed out on one of the most spectacular events I've ever seen. Luckily, I took a few photos.
We started our Eclipse Day celebration by popping into the rooftop of the Renaissance Hotel, where we got some fancy t-shirts and moon potion margaritas. From there we walked the streets to Gulch Landing parking garage for a better view. Surrounded by a couple hundred locals, the clouds cleared just in time as the eclipse peaked and the sky went dark. The temperature dropped from 95 to 75 and was a surreal experience where everything got quiet. Looking around you could just see everyone looking up in awe and smiling.
Here's the photos I took from the day. I didn't buy or rent any gear that I didn't already own. I didn't use a filter, The biggest zoom I owned was a 24-70mm so here's what I got with my Sony a7Rii w/ 24-70mm 2.8.
